Security and data handling

What we don't claim

Wenly doesn't hold, and doesn't claim, any security certification or attestation, and we don't claim HIPAA compliance. We say so first because a security page that starts with badges tells you very little. If a customer needs a business associate agreement or a certification we don't hold, tell us before you start and we'll be direct about whether we can meet it.

What we collect

  • On this website: the details you type into our forms, plus anonymous visit and click counts from privacy-friendly analytics.
  • From our customers: business details, contact details, and the information needed to set up call answering.
  • From callers to a customer's number: the caller's phone number, a recording and a transcript of the call, and what they tell us: usually a name, an address and the reason for the call.

Calls and recordings

Calls to a Wenly number are answered automatically, and the greeting says the call may be recorded. We record and transcribe calls so that a real person on our team can review every lead on Done-for-you, Pro and Founding, and so you can hear exactly what was said. The recording and transcript are sent to you with the lead.

Recording laws differ by state, and some require everyone on a call to consent. The greeting is the notice. You're still responsible for following the laws that apply to your business. Our recording consent glossary entry explains the basics.

Who can see it

  • You, the business the call was for.
  • The people on our team who check leads and support your account. They see what they need to do that.
  • A small number of service providers that run calls, texts, storage, email and analytics for us, so the service can work.

We don't sell your data, and we don't use call content to advertise to anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep recordings and transcripts while your account is active, so you can review your leads. You can ask us to delete any of them, and we delete them after you cancel. We keep consent records for demo calls as long as we need to show that someone agreed to the call.

How we protect it

  • Traffic to this website and to our systems is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
  • Access to customer data is limited to the people who need it to run the service.
  • Secrets such as keys and passwords are kept in protected settings, not in code or in documents.
  • Our forms limit how often one address can submit them, and they check the input on the server.

No system is perfect. If we find out that your data has been exposed, we'll tell you.

What Wenly won't collect

  • Card or payment details on a call. Wenly never takes them.
  • Medical history. For dental customers it takes scheduling details, not clinical information.

Hear it answer. Then start free.

On business plans: If we don't catch at least 10 leads you'd have missed in your first 30 days, you don't pay.

Have it call you

Your phone rings. It answers as your business.
