Answering service for HVAC companies. Voicemail is where jobs go to die.
When a furnace quits at 11pm, the homeowner doesn't leave a voicemail and wait. They call the next company on the list. Wenly answers that call in your company's name, finds out how urgent it is, and emails you the lead in 30 seconds.

Missed-call scenarios
Three calls HVAC companies can't afford to miss
Scenario 1
No heat at 11pm, newborn in the house
It is 19 degrees outside. The furnace quit an hour ago and there is a baby asleep upstairs. The homeowner is calling every HVAC company they can find.
Without an answer
Your phone rings while you are asleep, or across town on a job. It goes to voicemail. A worried parent does not wait for a callback. They keep dialling, and the first company that picks up gets the job.
With Wenly
Wenly answers in your company's name, asks who is at home and how cold it is, marks the call urgent and takes the address. If you have set an on-call number, the call transfers to it. Either way you get an urgent email in 30 seconds.
Scenario 2
The AC dies on the hottest day of the year
It is July and 97 degrees. A homeowner working from home hears the compressor stop. Two other companies have already sent them to voicemail.
Without an answer
Yours is the third voicemail greeting they hear. Some callers leave a message. Many hang up and move on to the next name.
With Wenly
The call is answered on the first try. Wenly takes the address, the system type and age if the caller knows them, whether anyone vulnerable is at home, and the best time for a visit. It never promises an arrival time. It tells the caller your team will confirm.
Scenario 3
A replacement quote from a homeowner with an old system
A homeowner's 18-year-old system is limping through its last summer. They call three companies on their lunch break to compare quotes.
Without an answer
You are under a house with a flashlight and can't answer. It is the most valuable call of your week, and it sits in voicemail until after lunch. By then two other companies have booked the visit.
With Wenly
Wenly captures the name, number, address, system details and a good time to talk, and texts it to you as a new lead. You call back when you are out from under the house, with everything you need to start the conversation.
The call and the text
What the caller hears, and what you get
The caller hears your company's name and a short line saying the call is answered automatically and may be recorded. You get the lead as a text.
Wenly
“Thanks for calling Northside Heating and Air. This call is answered automatically and may be recorded. How can we help with your heating or cooling today?”
Caller
“Our furnace stopped working and it's freezing. We have a newborn at home.”
Wenly
“I'm sorry, that's stressful. I'll get this to the on-call technician right now. What's the address, including ZIP?”
Caller
“418 Alder Street, 78704.”
Wenly
“Got it. Is the number you're calling from the best one to reach you?”
A fictional business and caller. The wording is tuned to each company.
What Wenly asks for
- What is wrong: no heat, no cooling, a noise, a leak, or a quote
- Whether anyone vulnerable is at home, and how hot or cold it is inside
- Name and callback number, confirmed
- Service address with ZIP, and whether it is in your service area
- System type and age, if the caller knows them
- New or existing customer, and the best time for a visit
Urgent rules
Urgent calls and safety rules for HVAC companies
We set these with you at setup, starting from the defaults for your trade. Wenly is not a substitute for 911. When anyone is in danger, callers are told to call 911.
Safety first
A smell of gas, a carbon monoxide alarm going off, or smoke or a burning smell from the unit
The caller is told to leave the house now and to call 911 or the gas company from outside, and not to touch light switches or anything electrical. Wenly takes a number and ends the call. You get an urgent text.
Urgent
No heat in freezing weather, no cooling in extreme heat, or a baby, an elderly person or someone unwell at home
Marked urgent. If you have set an on-call number and the call is inside your after-hours rules, it transfers to that number. If not, you get an urgent text and a priority callback request.
Urgent
Water leaking heavily from the unit
Handled the same way: urgent flag, transfer if you have set one up, and an immediate text.
Tune-ups, thermostat questions and quotes are routine. They reach you as normal leads. We agree the rules with you at setup, so what counts as urgent for your company is your call.

Lost to missed calls
You could be losing about $5,850 a month.
That is about $70,200 a year, from about 13 jobs a month.
6 calls a week × $450 × 50% × 4.33 weeks a month.
Wenly Starter is $99 a month. At your average job, winning back 1 job a month covers it.

Can it tell an emergency from a routine call?
Yes. It asks the questions a dispatcher would: what is wrong, how hot or cold it is inside, and whether a baby, an elderly person or someone unwell is at home. That sets the urgency. We agree the rules with you at setup, so what counts as urgent for your company is your call.
What happens if a caller smells gas?
The caller is told to leave the house and call 911 or the gas company from outside, and not to touch light switches. Wenly doesn't try to troubleshoot a possible gas leak. You get an urgent text so you know it happened.
Will it quote a price for a repair or a new system?
No. It never makes up prices. If you give us a service-call fee, it can tell callers what it is. Otherwise it says your technician will quote on site. Quote requests reach you as leads, with the system details.
Does it work with our on-call rotation?
Urgent calls can transfer to the on-call number you set. If nobody picks up, the caller is told your team will call back with priority, and you get the urgent email. To change the on-call number, tell us and we'll update it.
Do I need to change my number or my phone system?
No. You forward calls to a number we give you, either every call or only the ones you don't answer. It works with mobile, landline and most VoIP systems, and we send the exact steps for your carrier.
How does the cost compare with missing calls?
Starter is $99 a month and includes 500 minutes. At a $450 average ticket, one job you would have missed covers the month. Put your own numbers into the calculator above. And if we don't catch at least 10 leads you'd have missed in your first 30 days, you don't pay.
