Comparison
Wenly vs a human answering service
A traditional answering service puts a person on the phone. That is a real advantage, and it is priced like one. Wenly answers automatically, in your company's name, and adds a person to check every lead. Here is what differs, with published prices.

- Ruby's published virtual receptionist plans: 50 minutes for $250 a month, 100 minutes for $395, 200 minutes for $720 and 500 minutes for $1,725. Ruby describes its service as 24/7 phone and website coverage, including after hours, weekends and holidays, with 100% live, personalized communication. Ruby's page does not show per-minute overage rates.
- Smith.ai's live receptionist plans: $300 a month for 30 calls, $810 for 90 calls and $2,100 for 300 calls, with overage of $11.50, $10.50 and $8.50 a call. Smith.ai says its agents are live-staffed 24/7, that there are no setup fees, and that it offers a 30-day money-back guarantee up to $1,000.
- At Ruby's published prices, the included minutes work out to between $3.45 and $5.00 a minute. Wenly's work out to between $0.18 and $0.21 a minute. The products are different, and the gap is what a person's time costs.

Where each is stronger
Where a human answering service is stronger
- A live human can handle the call nobody planned for, and can sound reassuring to someone in distress.
- Coverage around the clock with real people, which some customers specifically want.
- Long-established services with a track record.
Where Wenly fits
- A far lower price for the same 24/7 coverage of your phone.
- Answered in seconds, with no agent to wait for.
- Urgent rules built for your trade, and a weekly report that puts a number on what it caught.
Which one to choose
Choose a human answering service if…
- You want a live person on every call, whatever it costs.
- Your calls are unpredictable and often need a human's judgment.
- Your customers expect to speak to a person.
Choose Wenly if…
- You want every call answered at a price a small business can carry.
- Most of your calls follow a pattern: what's wrong, where, how urgent.
- You want a person to check the lead, not to answer the phone.
A human answering service is the right answer when a live voice matters more than price. Wenly is the right answer when you want every call answered, every lead checked by a person, and a bill that doesn't scale with headcount. On the call, Wenly is automated: it says so in the greeting and never pretends to be a person.
Common questions
Is Wenly a call centre?
No. Calls are answered automatically. A real person on our team reviews every lead on Done-for-you, Pro and Founding, but they don't answer the phone.
Will callers know it's not a person?
Yes. The greeting says the call is answered automatically and may be recorded, and if a caller asks whether they are speaking to a person, it says no.
Why is Wenly so much cheaper?
Because a person isn't on every call. That is also the trade-off: an automated answer follows rules, and a person can improvise.
