Service area
A service area is the region where a business will take jobs, usually defined by ZIP codes, cities or a driving radius.
Service area explained
Why it matters on the phone
A call from outside your service area is a wasted dispatch or a wasted callback. Knowing early lets you decline, refer the job out, or decide it is worth the drive.
Ways to define it
- A list of ZIP codes, the most precise and the easiest to check on a call.
- A list of cities or counties.
- A radius, such as 25 miles from your shop.
What to do with calls outside it
Say so politely, and still take the details. A caller outside your area today might be a repeat customer tomorrow, and the details let you refer the job to someone you trust.
